The release of Windows 8 may create a boom for low cost Laptops. The ARM enabled Windows 8 Operating System is expected to create way for low cost laptops in the market. This may grab almost 1/4th of the laptop market share from Intel.

Windows 8 may lead to low cost Laptops

Till now, Intel is the only company who is dominating the field of microprocessors. Almost all of the laptops and desktops are having Intel processors. But with the introduction of Windows 8, Intel is finally set for a tough competition. Intel has been in the field of processors for the past 30 years.

According to a market survey, The Microsoft's new ARM enabled Windows 8 operating system is expected to create a boom for low cost laptops and most possibly 25% of the whole laptop market share of Intel will be dominated by ARM processors.

Microsoft's upcoming operating system, Windows 8 is being paired with processors from companies like the Qualcomm and NVIDIA. This is going to create a new era of low cost of laptops, reducing the dominance of Intel in laptop market. There is a possibility of using ARM processors, in one out of four laptops in the year 2015. And it is expected that the ARM processors that won't be running on systems with Linux or other operating system, will be running Windows 8 OS.

The present percentage of laptops, using ARM processors is only 3 percent which would increase to 25% by the end of 2015, after the release of Windows 8 operating system. At present, there are 7.6 million ARM laptops shipped in the year 2011 that may reach more than 75 million up to year 2015.

The price of such laptop may be below $700.
