ACER is launching ARM Laptops after release of Windows 8

In this article, I will be talking about ACER laptops which would be launched after release of Windows 8. Even though Microsoft has not yet officially announced about the details of Windows 8 OS, there is a lot of information available about Windows 8.

ACER is launching ARM Laptops after release of Windows 8

Microsoft has not yet officially announced the name for the next version of Windows operating system, but there is a lot of information available in the internet in the form of rumors, news about the new Windows 8 operating system which every one is considering as the name for the next version of operating system to be released by Microsoft by the year 2012. Laptop manufacturers like Acer, Toshiba and Samsung are currently working out for manufacturing of laptops using ARM based processors.

As far as ACER is concerned, there are plans that the ARM laptop will not be released before announcement of Windows 8 by Microsoft. This was announced by ACER during the recent IFA which is the largest consumer electronics show in Europe which was held in Berlin during first week of September,2011.

The ARM chips are used in most of the mobile phones, tablets and other mobile devices because of minimum power consumption by ARM chips. But ACER does not have any plans to release laptops based on ARM processors. ACER is planning to wait until release of Windows 8 by Microsoft. This is because they think that consumers will not take ARM based laptops seriously before release of Windows 8 appears in the market. One more observation for the delay of release of ARM based laptops by ACER is that Windows 7 is not compatible with ARM processors.

So we can expect that the first ARM based laptop from ACER would be launched during next year. These ARM based laptops would be called as 'Ultrabooks' when launched. Windows 8 is expected to be released during the early 2012, we need to wait another six months for an ARM based ACER laptop.
